Screening and Discussion of "Klara and the Sun"

with Laura Hartmann-Wackers, Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf

Thursday, October 29, 2026 | 7:00 p.m.
UFA-Palast Düsseldorf | Worringerstraße 142 | 40210 Düsseldorf

What does it mean to be human in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence? In Klara and the Sun, Academy Award-winning director Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) adapts the bestselling novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro for the screen. Jenna Ortega stars as Klara, an Artificial Friend, who is chosen by a family to keep their daughter Josie (Mia Tharia) company. As Klara develops a deep bond with Josie, her unwavering devotion raises profound questions about love, loneliness, empathy, and the boundaries between artificial and human intelligence. Also starring Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, and Natasha Lyonne, this thought-provoking science-fiction drama offers a timely reflection on our relationship with technology and what it means to care for one another.

After the screening, we invite you to join us for a discussion about the movie with:
