Deborah D.E.E.P Mouton is an internationallyknown writer, director, performer, critic, and the first Black Poet Laureate of Houston. She is the author of the 2019 poetry collection Newsworthy and has been a contributing writer for Glamour and Texas Monthly, among other outlets. As a playwright and a librettist, she has penned multiple stage works including Marian's Song (2020) with Houston Grand Opera & The Forest of Secrets (2022). Her recent memoir Black Chameleon (2023) examines womanhood by way of mythology. Deborah DEEP Mouton will read from this text, present poetry, and engage in conversation about her work.
