„Can I Get a Witness?“: History and Myth in the Poetry of Rita Dove - A Workshop
Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Cologne International Forum, International House, Kringsweg 6, 50931 Cologne
Rita Dove was the first African American to hold the position of the United States Poet Laureate (1993-1995) and was only the second African American to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1987. Dove is the only person up until today to have received both the National Medal of Arts from Barack Obama and the National Humanities Medal from Bill Clinton. Some of her most famouse works include Thomas and Beulah and The Darker Face of the Earth.
Participants will be expected to read and prepare a short text prior to the workshop. All necessary documents will be send to you in advance.
