Prof. Dr. Clayborne Carson is the founder of the Martin Luther King Jr., Research and Education Institute at Stanford University, where he is also the Martin Luther King Jr. Centennial Professor Emeritus of History and Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. He has devoted most of his professional life to the study of Martin Luther King Jr. and the movements of the iconic orator inspired.
Prof. Dr. Andra Gillespie is Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the James Weldon Johnson Institute at Emory University. Before joining the faculty of Emory, she worked as an analyst for Democratic pollster Mark Mellman. Her current research focuses on the political leadership of the post-civil rights generation. She is the author of The New Black Politician: Cory Booker, Newark and Post-Racial America. (NYU Press 2012).

Prof. Dr. Britta Waldschmidt-Nelson is Professor of Transatlantic History and Culture at the History Department of the University of Augsburg. Before joining the Augsburg faculty in 2016, she served as Deputy Director of the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C. for five years, and from 1994 to 2011 she taught American history at the University of Munich. She has also been a visiting scholar and guest lecturer at numerous universities in Europe and the United States.
