Trans-Atlantic Drift and Global Shift: Can the United States and Europe Compete in a Rapidly Changing World?

Amerika Haus e.V. NRW in corporation with CISG and the US Embassy cordially invites you to a lecture and discussion with Dr. Earl H. Fry.

Dr. Earl H. Fry served as the Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in American Studies at the University of Helsinki.  During this period he conducted extensive research on how well prepared Europe and the United States are to compete in a world where perhaps half of global trade, investment, people, and GDP will be concentrated in Asia by mid-century. His lecture focuses on specific challenges and solutions for the residents of Europe and the U.S.

Enhancing the American Political and Governmental Systems—Fry will highlight some of the special challenges facing Washington, D.C. and the U.S. political and governmental systems.  In his presentation, he will focus on these challenges and offer specific recommendations for surmounting each obstacle.

Dr. Fry is a Professor of Political Science and Endowed Professor of Canadian Studies at Brigham Young University. His noted book, Lament for America:  Decline of the Superpower, Plan for Renewal, was published in 2010 by the University of Toronto Press.  His newest book, Revitalizing Governance, Restoring Prosperity, and Restructuring Foreign Affairs:  The Pathway to Renaissance America, was published in 2014 by Lexington Books.

Dr. Fry previously served as Special Assistant in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, part of the Executive Office of the President of the United States. He has also been a Fulbright Lecturer at the Sorbonne, Director of International Education and Canadian Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh, and Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow.
